Powerfully Positive

Powerfully Positive

There are so many ups and downs that life brings, that sometimes it’s hard to dig deep to stay positive, to feel that we are fulfilling life and its purpose in totality, here are some daily practices and inspirations that keep me positive when things get a little tough to handle.

1.Positive contemplation

I was chatting to a friend recently and we have a similar ritual every day… bringing into our awareness on things in our life that is positive. Instead of jumping out bed at the first sign of your alarm, take 5 breaths, with each breath name 5 things in your life that is positive, or things that you are grateful for. For moms and dads whose alarm clock is a little wailing voice, and have to jump out of bed to sooth their little one, whilst consoling your baby tell them all the things in life that you are grateful for and the positivity they bring daily!

2. Separate fact from fiction

Whether it is gossip or politics, if it is affecting your life in any negative way, first find what the truth is and what is a person’s perspective! Whichever it is, you now have the power to choose how you would like this information to affect your life. You can relate to any negative feedback with acceptance, finding a positive solution and realizing that everything comes our way in life has happened for a higher purpose. Or you can react creating an equally negative vibe to your life.

3. Yoga

If yoga isn’t your thing, find some form of exercise to do to release pent up stress in your body. Yoga syncs us to our parasympathetic nervous system that will leave us feeling calmer and less stressed.

4. Your vibe attracts your tribe

When one person starts jabbering on about all  things negative, it is so easy to join in the conversation with no positive outcome. When this happens let’s start a dialogue as to how can we change the situation in our lives. If there is still a negative reactive response to finding a solution, then maybe it’s best to change the subject or even leave the company on cheerful note! People around will start feeling your positive energy, and it’s contagious!

5. Smile and hug

Hugging and smiling stimulates dopamine, serotonin and oxytocin. Dopamine is a pleasure hormone which is part of the brain’s reward system and serotonin balances our moods, which combats depression! Oxytocin promotes feelings of contentment, reducing anxiety and stress.

Smiling is actually contagious, have you consciously tried not to smile at someone when they have smiled at you (even when you are having a bad day!)?

6. Keep it Simple

Think less; feel more

Talk less; listen more

Judge less; accept more

Watch less; do more

Complain less; appreciate more

Fear less; Love more.

Namaste
